BREWINS Eastern Boulevard

Work appears to have been started on the 'mixed use development' on Eastern Boulevard and onto the corner of Jarrom Street. According to the developers, Development Factory, this will be a 'mixed development' of approximately 400 students' accommodation and commercial units.

Another purpose built student accommodation site.

A representative of the developers claimed, in 2008,  that it would be an "iconic landmark".

Take a look at one of those artist's impressions: http://www.newleicester.com/2011/05/21-storey-student-flats-eastern-blvd.html 21 STOREYS! "The project is believed to cost around £13 million in total but this will deliver a building the city can be proud of." Personally, I feel sorry for the people of Jarrom Street having that eyesore blocking the sun.

Lamp post signage from Leicester City Council went up on June 23rd stating "Prohibit the driving of motor vehicles in a Northerly direction (introduce a one-way system towards the Swan Gyratory from 06.00 hrs Monday 4th July to 18.00 hours Sunday 9th December 2012).

To the left of this page, under MAKING OBJECTIONS, there is a petition link, 'No more purpose built student accommodation in Leicester's West End. It may be too late to have any effect on this one, but could help stop further builds.
